The Sleep I Lost... and Why I’d Do It Again

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d willingly wake up before sunrise to work on my business, I’d have laughed. I love my sleep—always have. In fact, I used to joke that sleeping was one of my hobbies. But somehow, here I am, bleary-eyed but determined, typing away in the early hours before the house wakes up.
And do you know what? I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.
There’s something about those quiet moments before the day begins—the coffee is hot, the world is still, and for a short while, everything feels calm. It’s become my most productive time, a pocket of peace before the school run chaos begins.
But beyond the productivity, there’s something even better—the progress.
Every early morning, every late-night idea, every moment spent building something that’s mine gets me closer to my goals. I see my clients’ businesses growing, I get to be creative, and I have the flexibility to shape my own future. And that? That’s worth every yawn.
Sure, it’s not always easy. Some days, I wonder how I’m managing it all. But I’ve found ways to make it work—early mornings for deep focus, afternoons in the garden with my laptop while the kids play, and gym sessions squeezed in at lunchtime, not just for fitness, but because I’ve realised that stepping away from work and focusing on nothing but the next rep is the best mental reset I never knew I needed.
So yes, I miss my sleep. But would I trade it for the progress I’m making, the business I’m building, and the future I’m creating for myself? Not a chance.
